Methodology: Update 3

Looking back on the project now I really wish we could have done a lot more with it. I think if we had more time to develop our concept instead of focusing on recording ourselves. We could have created a nice smart video animation with some nice voice over work from each of us in the group. I do think we personally focused way too much on the video aspect of the project instead of developing interesting ways of presenting our content. I feel if we could have presented our information as a video infographic with a bit of tongue and cheek humour, we could have had something unique. But unfortunately, we didn’t have the time. Every time I see the video it makes me cringe as I know we could have done better if we spent a bit more time and effort on it.

Working with people from other groups maybe sounds good in theory but it causes a lot of issues when it comes to arranging group meetings. Not everybody is willing to make the effort to meet up and because of this the projects suffers. I do feel a bit of responsibility for this as I was sick and couldn't make it in for the two weeks during this project. This unfortunately made it hard for me to meet up with my group, but I still made the effort to come in and discuss things even when I was sick. I even kept in close contact with Claire over WhatsApp and Slack to make sure I wasn't losing out on any of the important information or discussions within the group chats. I felt if I didn't keep up with the group in these forms of communication, we wouldn't have got the work done.

Creativity: Update 2

During the process of developing my animated gif I decided to use a website called Unsplash for my reference photography images. I personally felt this would add a unique and professional look to what I was hoping to animate. For this purpose of making animated gif I decided to use a software called Photomirage. I have been wanting to experiment with this software for some time but have never gotten the opportunity to really explore its unique features. Previously I would have always used Adobe Creative Cloud for enhancing and developing my project ideas. However, I wanted to learn something new, so I decided to use this software instead as I wanted to challenge myself. The software was very easy to use and had a lot of unique features like Adobe products. One of the things that I found a little bit unusual was the way it allows the user to simply drag and drop effects onto your image. This was interesting as you didn't have to use a layering system to setup your effects. Co...

Creativity: Update 1

In today's class of Introduction to Digital Media we were given our first project which we must complete over the coming weeks. We had to create an animated GIF and present it in a PowerPoint presentation as part of a group project. At first, I was horrified at the idea of doing a presentation as I am not great when it comes to speaking in public, as I can sometimes get extremely nervous. When it came to be finding the best people to work with, I was lucky as they were individuals that I've already become good friends with. Ron and Cian are very nice people and I know I can rely on them to get this project done the right way. Since we decided to go with an animated GIF for a project, I decided to take it upon myself to create a group page using WhatsApp. I felt this would be a great way of communicating since this is something, we have been using to keep in touch with others in our creative development class. This way we would be able to keep up to date with any ideas tha...
