No sooner finishing the first assignment on creativity we ended up starting a new project on culture. This assignment came a little too quick in my opinion. Although, after reading the description of what we would be doing it seemed to have better topics compared to the first project. We had the option to choose from 12 new topics which had a lot of interesting elements to them. The two subjects that piqued my interest was YouTubeing and blogging. After further research on these two topics I felt blogging would be the better options as you're not limited in what you could do with this medium. This was great because I had two other friends named Keith and Wiktoria who were also interested in developing blogging as part of the project. This was great as I didn't have to run around looking for people to join a group.
After we had formed our group, we decided on writing down a couple of ideas into a notebook. During our Introduction to Digital Media class we worked on further developing these ideas and planning out what we wanted to cover. Some of the ideas we came up with was to do a project on student life, mental health, nutrition and creativity. A lot of these ideas were extremely good, but we needed to narrow it down to one pacific idea. We decided to focus on student life and what challenges students face on a daily basic. This was very interesting as we could use our own experiences as students and elaborate on them. This way other students could learn from our mistakes and find new ways of coping with the challenges of college life.
This was great as I really wanted to do better this time around with the group project. With the previous assignment I didn't feel I did my best when it came to standing up in front of an audience and discussing my research during the PowerPoint presentation. But learning from the mistakes of the last project I was able to become a little bit more confident in my approach to this presentation. I found working with Keith and Wiktoria really added more interest to this project as we really wanted to create something special that we could all be proud of.
