Methodology: Update 3

Looking back on the project now I really wish we could have done a lot more with it. I think if we had more time to develop our concept instead of focusing on recording ourselves. We could have created a nice smart video animation with some nice voice over work from each of us in the group. I do think we personally focused way too much on the video aspect of the project instead of developing interesting ways of presenting our content. I feel if we could have presented our information as a video infographic with a bit of tongue and cheek humour, we could have had something unique. But unfortunately, we didn’t have the time. Every time I see the video it makes me cringe as I know we could have done better if we spent a bit more time and effort on it. Working with people from other groups maybe sounds good in theory but it causes a lot of issues when it comes to arranging group meetings. Not everybody is willing to make the effort to meet up and because of this the projects suffers.

Methodology: Update 2

During the early stages of this project Claire and I decided that we would be focusing on gathering the information that would be presented in the video. This information would come from numerous sources such as digital news articles as well as physical papers covering cancel culture. I decided to focus more on cancel culture in gaming and how it affects different communities online. While Claire focused more on the accusations made against the rugby players and the “I believe her” movement. Joseph decides to take on the role of editing the video footage as well as working on a script and questions. We did offer to help with the editing process, but he felt confident he would be able to cope with the work. He had prior experience using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and has a keen interest in developing his skills in this area. We felt this roll would play to his strengths and make the video stand out. When all this information was gathered, I would be responsible for creating the rese

Methodology: Update 1

Unlike our previous two group projects, our final project on culture and creativity involves creating a video. This video will be recorded and edited using Adobe Premier Pro Creative Cloud. Any research done on our chosen topic will need to be viewable within this video. The video will have to be no more than 5 minutes in length, feature the TU Dublin and Creative Digital Media logo in the end credits of the project. As part of our last assignment we had the option of working with individuals outside of our own group. I thought this was an interesting idea but in hindsight I didn't realise how difficult this was going to be. I was approached by one of my fellow classmates named Claire about working on this project together. At this stage I didn't really have any ideas of what topic to choose from, but I was leaning towards the Digital Journalism. It was something I always had an interest in, and I wanted to learn more about it. I personally felt by covering this topic I woul

Culture: Update 3

Looking back on what I've learnt from this assignment, I feel a lot more confident when it comes to presenting a PowerPoint presentation in front of people compared to the last assignment. I really think we all did a great job in our group and because of this it really shows in our blogging website. The time and effort we spent developing this project and meeting up to add more information into it was one of the best experiences I have had working on a group project. I really liked working with a good group of people that felt the same way I did about this project which really made this feel like a labour of Love. I hope we can find the time to continue developing this blog down the line. The only thing that I think we fell short on with the PowerPoint presentation was the fact we focused too much on discussing the concept instead of going through the process of making the blogging website and not the challenges we faced. We did create a nice-looking PowerPoint presentati

Culture: Update 2

This new assignment was quite interesting as we had to create a project based around culture. This would be a little bit tricky as we were only given this assignment the day before we finished up for the reading week. This meant the only time we would be able to meet up and work on the group project would be over the days we had off.  This was a little difficult as each of us would need to arrange transport to meet up and work on our group project. This was a little tricky as each of us were coming from different locations such as Cavan, Navan and Ballivor. We decided that Navan would be the best place to meet up as it was easily accessible for everybody in the group and there was a nice little coffee shop their where we could work in peace and quiet. I think Keith, Wiktoria and I really wanted to develop a strong and impressive idea in which we could be proud of. This was one of the reasons why we chose to do our assignment on blogging as we felt we could truly get to

Culture: Update 1

No sooner finishing the first assignment on creativity we ended up starting a new project on culture. This assignment came a little too quick in my opinion. Although, after reading the description of what we would be doing it seemed to have better topics compared to the first project. We had the option to choose from 12 new topics which had a lot of interesting elements to them. The two subjects that piqued my interest was YouTubeing and blogging. After further research on these two topics I felt blogging would be the better options as you're not limited in what you could do with this medium. This was great because I had two other friends named Keith and Wiktoria who were also interested in developing blogging as part of the project. This was great as I didn't have to run around looking for people to join a group. After we had formed our group, we decided on writing down a couple of ideas into a notebook. During our Introduction to Digital Media class we worked on furt

Creativity: Update 3

The Project is nearly over and I'm looking forward to putting the final touches on this presentation. I can't wait to see all the interesting and unique ideas everyone has come up with over the last couple of weeks. It has been an interesting project and I'm quite happy to say we as a group did a great job. We had no problem coming together and working hard to produce something amazing. I have learnt a lot from researching the history of GIf's and there is quite a lot that I didn't know. It's amazing at how something so small can grow into something so big over the course of a couple of years. On the day of the presentation everybody was a little bit nervous about showing their own presentation in front of the group. We were lucky in the sense that we had a small group of people to show our work. I was so nervous that I forgot my classmates name when I was passing over to his section the read from the PowerPoint Presentation. I felt really embarrassed and di
