Culture: Update 2

This new assignment was quite interesting as we had to create a project based around culture. This would be a little bit tricky as we were only given this assignment the day before we finished up for the reading week. This meant the only time we would be able to meet up and work on the group project would be over the days we had off. 


This was a little difficult as each of us would need to arrange transport to meet up and work on our group project. This was a little tricky as each of us were coming from different locations such as Cavan, Navan and Ballivor. We decided that Navan would be the best place to meet up as it was easily accessible for everybody in the group and there was a nice little coffee shop their where we could work in peace and quiet.



I think Keith, Wiktoria and I really wanted to develop a strong and impressive idea in which we could be proud of. This was one of the reasons why we chose to do our assignment on blogging as we felt we could truly get to use our own unique skills without any limitations. We decided to focus on student life for our project as we felt this would be extremely useful for next year's college students. We wanted to cover a wide assortment of issues that students would face on a regular basis and present it in a light-hearted way. When it came to working on the project, we had to look at different blogging websites like Wix's, WordPress and blogger before we make our final decision. With the type of content, we would be creating we needed WYSIWYG editor that supported multimedia features. We decided to use Wix's as it was more user-friendly compared to other WYSIWYG editors online. Google was going to be the main email account for this project. It also allowed us to store larger file sizes on our Google drive which we could link back to our blogging website.

No sooner finishing the first assignment on creativity we ended up starting a new project on culture. This assignment came a little too quick in my opinion. Although, after reading the description of what we would be doing it seemed to have better topics compared to the first project. We had the option to choose from 12 new topics which had a lot of interesting elements to them. The two subjects that piqued my interest was YouTubeing and blogging. After further research on these two topics I felt blogging would be the better options as you're not limited in what you could do with this medium. This was great because I had two other friends named Keith and Wiktoria who were also interested in developing blogging as part of the project. Culture: Update 3

Looking back on what I've learnt from this assignment, I feel a lot more confident when it comes to presenting a PowerPoint presentation in front of people compared to the last assignment. I really think we all did a great job in our group and because of this it really shows in our blogging website. The time and effort we spent developing this project and meeting up to add more information into it was one of the best experiences I have had working on a group project. I really liked working with a good group of people that felt the same way I did about this project which really made this feel like a labour of Love. I hope we can find the time to continue developing this blog down the line. The only thing that I think we fell short on with the PowerPoint presentation was the fact we focused too much on discussing the concept instead of going through the process of making the blogging website and not the challenges we faced. Creativity: Update 1

In today's class of Introduction to Digital Media we were given our first project which we must complete over the coming weeks. We had to create an animated GIF and present it in a PowerPoint presentation as part of a group project. At first, I was horrified at the idea of doing a presentation as I am not great when it comes to speaking in public, as I can sometimes get extremely nervous. When it came to be finding the best people to work with, I was lucky as they were individuals that I've already become good friends with. Ron and Cian are very nice people and I know I can rely on them to get this project done the right way.
